AMU Scholar receives
Oral Presentation Award at National Seminar
Aligarh, December 2: Aligarh
Muslim University Research Scholar associated with the Department of Botany, Mr
Waseem Muhstaq was recently awarded the ‘Best Oral Presentation Award’ during a
National Seminar on ‘Advances in Plant Science Frontier: Development and
Environment’ (APSF-2016) held at the Department of Botany, Gandhi Faiz-e-Alam
College, Shajahanpur.
Mr
Mushtaq, who had presented a paper titled, ‘Allelopathic Impact of Nicotiana Plumbaginifolia
on Some Weed and Pulse Crops’ at the National Seminar is doing Phd under the
supervision of Professor Mohammad Badruzzaman Siddiqui in AMU.
Tibbiya College observes
World Aids Day
Aligarh, December 2: The
Department of Tahaffuzi wa Samaji Tib, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, Aligarh
Muslim University in collaboration with Red Ribbon Club of the University today
observed the World AIDS Day.
On
the occasion, the Chief Guest, Padamshri Professor Hkm. Syed Zillur Rehman said
that India shares a big portion of HIV positive people of the world and it is
imperative to create awareness among masses on AIDS.
Prof
Jugal Kishore, Head, Department of Community Medicine, Vardhaman Mahaveer
Medical College, New Delhi and Dr Maseehuddin Siddiqui Ex MO and In-charge ART
delivered the lecture on the theme of ‘Hands up for HIV Prevention’ and
‘Functioning of ART Center’ respectively.
Meanwhile,
Dr Rupender Kumar Goel, Chief Medical Officer, District, Aligarh promised to
provide various health Schemes to the Department of Tahaffuzi wa Samaji Tib.
Prof
M M Wamiq Amin, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine urged the students to spread
awareness in masses on AIDS, while Prof Saud Ali Khan, Principal, Tibbiya
College, AMU boosted the moral of the organizing team. Prof S M Ashraf laid
emphasis on the awareness and the prevention of AIDS. The technical session was
chaired by Prof Anees Ahmad Ansari and Prof Abdul Mobin Khan.
One
of the highlights of the event was the release of a book authored by Prof S M
Safdar Ashraf, Chairman, Department of Tahaffuzi wa Samaji Tib. The book, which
is titled, ‘Maholiyati Sehat’ was released by Prof Syed Zillur Rehman and Dr Rupender
Kumar Goel. Prof Najam Khaliq, Chairman, Department of Community Medicine,
Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College delivered the review of the book.
The
event also had certificates distribution to the winners of various competitions
on AIDS awareness organized by Dr Ali Jafar Abdi, Co-ordinator Red Ribbon Club.
Prof
Anees Ismail, Prof Naeem Ahmad Khan, Prof Abdul Manan, Prof Misbahuddin, Prof
Firasat Ali, Prof Abu Waris Jamil, Prof Ashhar Qadeer, Prof Mohd Anwar, Prof
Mansoor A Siddiqui, Prof Hisamuddin and Prof Asia were also present at the
event.

students Mr Naeem, Mrs Zarreen Baig, Mr M Kaleem, Mr M Javed, Intern
Naqeebuddin, Mr Razi Khan, Mr Sheeraz Khan and Mr Irfan worked tirelessly to
make the event successful.
Dr Abdul Aziz Khan conducted the programme, while Dr
Ammar Ibne Anwar proposed the vote of thanks.
AMU marks Raja Mahendra Pratap’s birth anniversary
Aligarh, December 2:
Marking the birth anniversary of Freedom Fighter and social reformist, Raja
Mahendra Pratap, the Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor, Lt General
Zameer Uddin Shah (Veteran) today said that Raja Pratap was a proud AMU
alumnus, who urged the students to follow footsteps of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan and
to join the ‘Freedom Movement.’
He added that Raja Pratap’s family was closely
associated with Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, the founder of the institution and they
also donated land, where AMU’s City School is situated.
"We have always acknowledged that the Raja did
lease 3.04 acres of land to AMU in 1929 at a rate of Rs. 2/- per annum and we
are proud of his contribution,” said the Vice Chancellor.
Meanwhile, AMU Pro Vice Chancellor, Brigadier S Ahmad
Ali said that the late Raja stood for ‘values of secularism.’ He added that Raja
Pratap was the President of India's first Provisional Government in exile
established at Kabul in 1915, which was established with the help of some
leading Muslim clerics.
Freedom fighter, journalist, writer and revolutionary,
Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh received his education at the Mohammedan Anglo
Oriental College and with this background he shaped into a true revolutionary
and a freedom fighter.
