AMU
signs five MoUs with Automotive Industry Partners
Aligarh,
November 25: The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) recently signed
five MoUs with Automotive Industry Partners at the 2016 Visitor’s Conference
held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The Honorable President of India, Mr Pranab
Mukherjee
facilitated these MoUs.
AMU Vice Chancellor,
Lt General Zameer Uddin Shah (Veteran) along with Registrar, Professor Javaid
Akhter; Principal, Zakir Hussain College of Engineering and Technology, Professor
M M Sufyan Beg; Coordinator, Centre of Advanced Research in Electrified
Transportation (CARET), Dr M Saad Alam and Co-coordinator Centre of Advanced
Research in Electrified Transportation (CARET), Dr Yasser Rafat attended the
Visitor’s Conference, where these MoUs were signed.
AMU has signed these
MoUs with Mahindra and Mahindra, Hero Eco Group of Companies, EV Motors Pvt.
Ltd., Go Green EOT and Indian Smart Grid Forum (ISGF). AMU was signatory to the
second highest number of MoUs in the Conference, which saw a total number of 67
MoUs in between educational constitutions and industry partners.
Meanwhile, at least
one of the industry partners immediately offered to support two AMU PhD
students for relevant research activities for a period of three years. These
PhD students will receive a cumulative grant of INR 50,000 per month after the
approval of PM scholarship.
During the inaugural
session of the conference, the Honorable President of India and HRD Minister,
Mr Prakash Javadekar emphasized the role of higher education in the development
of the country and laid the vision for reforming the higher education in India.
One the occasion, the President of India also released the ‘Students Start up
Policy Hand Book’.
The afternoon
sessions were devoted to emphasize the significance and to promote the
Industry- Academia Collaborative activities. Talks were delivered by eminent
Personalities followed by the address of the Honorable President of India on
the importance of the Innovative Research and Industry Institute Interactions
in achieving the world class education status.
Mr N R Narayana
Murthy, ex-CEO of Infosys, in his talk stressed on the creative ways of
teaching and learning to nourish the intellect and skills of the students and
stated the drawback of conventional method of teaching in very strong words.
The ‘Prime Minister Scholarship’ was also brought to mention by the HRD
officials, where the Industry Partner and the Government of India will jointly
provide the monetary support to PhD students.
The Visitor’s
Conference, an initiative by the Honorable President of India is held annually
at Rashtrapati Bhavan. This conference is a focal point for the Vice
Chancellors of all the central universities, Directors of all IITs, IIITs and
NITs with a vision to enhance the Quality of Higher Education in India at par
with Premier Universities around the globe.
To further emphasize
the importance of the Industry-Institute collaborative activities and
Innovative research based teaching and learning approach, Gen Shah will address
faculty and students at the Assembly Hall of Zakir Hussain College of
Engineering and Technology on December 1, 2016.
