Emeritus Fellowship awarded to Professor Qazi Jamal Husain
ALIGARH May 1: University Grants Commission (UGC) has selected Professor Qazi Jamal Husain, a retired Porfessor of the Department of Urdu, Aligarh Muslim University for Professor Emeritus Fellowship for 2017-2018.
This is for the first time that this prestigious honour has been given to a Professor of Urdu Department, AMU. During the fellowship period, Professor Husain will work on ‘New Emerging Trends in Contemporary Urdu-Poetry’.
Professor Husain is also a recipient of Commonwealth Fellowship in the year 1987-88. He was associated with the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London during this fellowship.
Professor Husain, a noted scholar of Urdu, has published many critical and insightful papers and several thought provoking books. He has more than thirty years of teaching and reaserch guiding experience.



Annual function held at Women’s Polytechnic
ALIGARH May 1: The University Women’s Polytechnic, Aligarh Muslim University organized a “Prize Distribution and Annual Function” in the Assembly Hall. 
Mrs. Sabiha Simi Shah, who was the chief gueston this occasion gave away prizes to the participants of various literary and cultural events. In her address, Mrs. Shah urged the students to take their studies seriously and work hard to attain excellence.
The Guest of Honour, Mrs. Rizwana Ali also exhorted the students to be sincere towards their goals in life.
Dr. Salma Shaheen, Principal of the Women’s Polytechnic presented the Annual Report of the University Women’s Polytechnic.
The Incharge, Poly Society Dr. Sheeba Kamal delivered the vote of thanks.



Workshop held by Soch
ALIGARH May 1: The Department of Social Work, Aligarh Muslim University and SOCH...Beyond the Imagination, a social organization  of AMU students organized an Orientatio-cum-Workshop on the topic "Professional Social Work and Role of  NGOs in Community Development".
Mr. Lalit Kumar, ACM II was chief guest of the occasion while Dr Naseem Ahmad Khan, Chairperson, Department of Social Work graced the programme as Guest of Honour.
Mrs. Sapan Kay Cee, Mr Omar S. Peerzada, AMU PRO, Mr. Saad Hameed TPO General, Dr Qurratul Ain Ali, Dr Sadaf Jafri, Mr Zeeshan Ahmad, Assistant PRO and Dr Mohd Uzair were among the panelists.
Mr Lalit Kumar, ACM II said that real nationalism is service to humanity and society. We, the people of India, should join hands in nation building.
Dr Naseem Ahmad Khan, Chairman, Dept of Social Work said that to run an NGO one needs cooperation of people from different profession who are expert in their feild. He added that we should move forward with positive approach. He appreciated the efforts made by SOCH and promised all kind of support.
AMU Public Relations Officer, Mr Omar Saleem Peerzada appreciated the work of theorganization and assured for all possible help from his department. He said education without service to humanity is waste and we can make a big change in the society if we work as a team.
Addressing on the occasion, Mr. Saad Hameed said that it was important to diferntiate between charity and NGO. He highlighted several ways for adding professionalism in NGO culture.
Dr Sapan Kay Cee said that we always need skilled people with vision and mission who can bring revolutionary changes in the society.
Earlier, Dr Saleem Mohammad Khan, President, SOCH, welcomed the guests while Dr. Sadaf Jafri presented an introduction to SOCH through Powerpoint presentation.
Dr Qurrat Aein Ali conducted the inaugural session while Mr Mohd Shariq presented Vote of thanks.
Yusra Aziz Khan, a pass out of Department of Social Work, AMU played an important role in organising the workshop and in opening of Literacy Centres and Skill Development Centres run by SOCH.
Miss Saeba Farrukha, Rayyan Azmi, Faraz Murtaza, Amir Siddique, Sartaj Alam, Adil Naseer, Furqan Khan, Adil Jawahar, Amood Gulzar played an important role in organising the event.
Maneesh Bharti, Thakur Sobhansh Singh, Afaf Akhtar, Muznah Jameel, Aiman Bari, Sofiya Raza, Zahbi Khan, Sibtey Mehdi, Al-Umar Yusuf Sheikh, Soaib Ahmad, and Waseem Ahmad were present on this occasion.


Prof Parvaiz Talib appointed Dean and Chairperson
ALIGARH May 1: Professor Parvaiz Talib has been appointed as Dean, Faculty of Management and Research and Chairperson, Department of Business Administration vice Prof Valedd Ahmad Ansari.
Professor Talib will serve as Dean and Chairperson for a period of two and three years respectively.
